Healthlincs Receives Grant for Youth Mental Health Initiative

Healthlincs is a non-profit arm of Medicalincs that “partners with local and national agencies to link healthcare resources, services, processes, and systems to improve healthcare outcomes and meaningful living.”

Youth across the United States are experiencing a mental health crisis. Plenty of features of modern society may be to blame for this negative trend, and the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated existing mental health challenges, leaving many children and teenagers without sufficient support or adequate resources. At Healthlincs, we believe that the mental wellbeing of our youth is a fundamental part of a thriving and healthy community. That is why we, along with Governor Wes Moore, are leading the way in making a change by taking decisive action to address this issue for Maryland’s youth.

Last January, Governor Moore and Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller, demonstrated their commitment to the mental well-being of Maryland students, by allocating a record $1.4 billion from the state budget for mental health and substance abuse programs for the 2024 fiscal year. The Governor's "Roadmap to Healing" strategy outlines key initiatives such as expanding access to mental health services, strengthening the behavioral health workforce, integrating trauma-informed care, and investing in community-based support systems.

Healthlincs is pleased to be at the forefront of the initiative to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of Maryland’s young students, by preparing to roll out the Mental Health Wellness Continuum (MWC) Program. MWC which has been developed to tackle the urgent behavioral health challenges facing the youth within our community. Healthlincs will be able to do this thanks to a recent multi-million dollar grant from the Maryland Community Health Resource Commission (MCHRC) for the Coordinated Community Supports Partnership.

The initiatives outlined by Governor Moore and the implementation of Healthlincs' Mental Health Wellness Continuum program together represent a beacon of hope for Maryland's youth.  This collaborative and strategic approach signals a brighter future where mental health is prioritized, paving the way for healthier and more resilient communities.
